Solid update

I just downloaded this app and I really like the new update. It has a very similar feeling to iMessage but you can literally message anyone on this when you have their cell phone number and it's attached to their facebook account. So essentially anyone can use it in contrast to apple only products being able to use iMessage. I was drawn to this app because it offers voice messaging, and a variety of emoji sticker options that google hangouts doesn't offer in their ipad apps which is what I use for my main communication .this app offers all of that here.

The app overall is really snappy and fast and very simple. I like how it's not connected to regular facebook at all. So there's no annoying facebook profiles or news feed to be forced to look at. It almost feels like your not using facebook.

However, the only serious negative for this app is that not too many people have started using this yet. So sometimes my messages just go their facebook inboxes where they have to log in to see what I said which is a lot slower than regular texting. So as of now it's almost impossible to use this app for all my messaging and calling needs with friends. It's a shame facebook did away with sms message. It's not here anymore so I have to use your facebook account to use this app. That's very annoying.

It's pretty good, but I don't see why I need a separate app for messaging.

It's ok, like I said in my title. The thing is, why do I have to have another app for messaging. I hope in the future we won't need apps for using anything and everything on Facebook. The whole reason I downloaded the Facebook app in the first place was for convenience. So I didn't have to go to a computer or have to use my internet app to use it. So having a seperate app for the use of something on an app is pretty much the same as having to use my internet app or having to use something else. It should just be all on one app. Every other app I have has all of it's uses, tools, features, etc. in that one app. Like I said, I just hope I won't need more apps to use other things and waste more space on my hard drive on my phone, and take up more pages of my phone to make navigating apps harder and more confusing. There are plenty more reasons why I think it should all be one app, but I don't feel like going into major detail and writing a book about these problems. Just my opinion, the Facebook messenger app is ok though. It works well, the messenger app is good. That's not the problem though. The problem is what I just explained. You wanted me to write a review and this is what I have thought about it.

Good at messaging, but very poor program design

This app does what it does very well, which is allow you to send and receive Facebook messages without loading/downloading the entire Facebook data when you just want to download/check your messages. It is very good at that, responsive, sleek interface, fast refresh times.

However I should note that there is NO way to turn off all notifications from this app. The in-app settings only allows turning off until two hard coded times, instead of a dynamic time selector allowing you to pick a time to disable until (like the end of your next class), which is very inconvenient and it would be very easy to enable this feature. Also, if you turn off notifications and remove it from "notification center" through global device settings, every time you open the app, you will get a popup telling you that you should re-enable notification center settings for this app as if it knows best about what apps I want in my notifications. There is no way to disable this. Very poor decision by the developers. I have since removed from my device
